Today, eighth grade used Cheez-It crackers to prove the Pythagorean Theorem! They determined it took 16 crackers to fill the area of square a, and nine to fill the area of square b. All the crackers were then used to fill the area of square c, proving why the Pythagorean Theorem is a^2+ b^2= c^2. #MTA #Math 🧀

In honor of Catholic Schools Week in February and to celebrate the theme of the week, “United in Faith and Community,” we had school-wide penny war. The students in the winning classroom were promised the opportunity to donate all the funds raised to a local charity of their choice. First grade pulled out the win and chose to donate the total funds raised throughout the school to Emma’s Footprints. Earlier this week, we presented the organization with a check for $864.53. Great job, Saints! #MTA #Community

Kindergarten did not catch the leprechauns! They did, however, trashed our room, made our toilets green, took our coins and lucky charms! They also wrote us a note in rainbow popsicle sticks, "You can not catch me!" They left us magic rocks telling us better luck next time! The magical rocks were washed off with the leprechaun's magic water, and they bubbled up and revealed our coins!! Next year leprechauns...next year! #MTA #StPatricksDay ☘

Middle school completed an escape room today! They had a leprechaun visit and destroy the room before classes! Students had to team together to complete different challenges to help trap the leprechaun. Challenges that included authors purpose, text structure and context clues! Students who completed the challenge helped trap the leprechaun, while those who didn’t had to help clean up the mess he made. #MTA ☘

Yesterday was Pi Day! Ms. Nolan’s seventh and eighth grade math classes celebrated the occasion. Seventh grade familiarized themselves with the first 40 digits of pi by creating pi skylines and cityscapes. Eighth grade used their measuring skills calculate pi. Students measured the circumference and diameter of circular objects, then divided these measurements to get (approximately) pi, 3.14. #MTA #PiDay math

This week, kindergarten has been reading “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and working on subtraction! Today, for their Sight Word exercise, it rained spaghetti and meatballs! Each meatball had a number and a sight word on them (12 total), and the noodles had a sight word sentence. Students were to collect 12 meatballs and one noodle on their plates. They then had to write all 12 sight words. If they had a duplicate, they had to put the “extra meatball” in the “refrigerator” just like the people of Chewandswallow did with their leftovers! Students also had to write and illustrate their sight word sentences! For subtraction, they made Play-Doh balls and smashed the Play-Doh balls that were subtracted. We love kindergarten! #MTA #CelebrateReadingWeek #KindergartenFun 🍝📚

Kindergarten recently participated in some experiential learning! They took a virtual field trip to the post office. They learned all about the process, postmen and postwomen, how to address a letter, and how the letters get mailed! They then made valentines, packaged them into letters, put the postage stamp on them, and walked to the mailbox and mailed them. They anxiously waited to receive their valentines and see who theirs was! #MTA #Valentines ♥📮
