Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • It was a busy weekend for boys tennis. The District 10 AA Boys Singles Tournament took place at Westwood on Saturday. Justin Yochim won his first-round match. Justin Yochim and Michael Ferraro won their first-round match. Yochim would lose his second-round match, while Ferraro, Gavin Ferretti, and Charbel Moubarak won their matches. Ferretti and Moubarak won their quarterfinal and semifinal matches and will face each other in the championship match. The all-Prep final will take place TODAY at 3:00 p.m. at Westwood. On Sunday, the Ramblers swept Canisius, 5-0. Bradley Ng, Ferretti, and Moubarak won in singles. The tandems of Yochim/Cameron Grieshaber and Michael Ferraro/Ty Hulick won in doubles. 🎾 • Boys track & field finished sixth at the 51st annual Baldwin Invitational. Devin Easter took fifth in the 200. Roman Hamm finished eighth in the 400. Will English finished sixth in the 800. James Burkett won the 3200. Hank Partridge took fourth in the 300 hurdles. The 4x100 relay of Gavin Easter, Hunter Sullivan, D. Easter, and Taijoun Williams took third. The 4x400 relay of Michael McDonald, Declan Toohey, Hamm, and English finished second. Ashton Mountain took seventh in the triple jump. 👟 • Girls track & field also competed at the Baldwin Invitational. Anne-Catherine Brown took sixth in the McKinney Mile. Zita Schiedel took sixth in the Helbig Two Mile, while Kendal Johnston took sixth in the high jump. 👟 • Boys lacrosse fell to Salamanca (NY), 19-12, in a varsity-only matchup. Rory Callaghan had four goals and two assists. Charlie McBrier also scored four goals. Nate Klan had three goals and an assist. Rylan Sorge had four assists, while Andrew Timon scored and had an assist. Lohan Mastrian also had an assist. Ian Brown made 11 saves. 🥍

Fifty-four students were inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at a ceremony last night in the H. David Bowes Auditorium. NHS is a national organization which recognizes outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Candles were lit to signify these four values, as well as the initiation of the new members. Inductees received a pin and certificate to honor their new membership. Current members of NHS were present to induct the new members and show what it means to be a member of the National Honors Society. Congratulations to all the inductees! #Prep #NHS

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, May 1: • Baseball shutout Warren, 16-0, in a varsity-only matchup. Fifteen different Ramblers had a hit or scored a run in the Region victory. Derick Friedman had a three-run triple, while Owen Fetzner and AJ Sirianni each had a pair of RBIs. ⚾

Our school community was recognized at Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania’s annual Bread Box Awards. We earned second place for the high school category based on events held and donations made to the organization. Student Council members Rob Socash ’25, Nhu Tran ’25, Roman Luniewski ’26, and Joseph Ott ’26 attended the luncheon yesterday to accept the award. #Prep #Service #Community

Students had their final visit at the Barber National Institute yesterday. They were greeted with thank you cards and wishes from the students that they've been working with throughout the year. There were some hard goodbyes, especially for our seniors who have been doing this for a year and a half, as they've grown great relationships with their students and teachers. We're incredibly grateful for this opportunity! #Prep #Community

35 students and six faculty members participated in an eight-day educational tour of Italy over Easter Break. Landing in Rome, students explored the city on foot and visited numerous sites, including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and St. Peter’s Square, as thousands of mourners lined up to pay their respects to the recently deceased Pope Francis. Students toured the Vatican Museum and visited the beautiful Sistine Chapel, where soon cardinals will elect the next pope. Students then traveled to Tuscany, visiting Livorno, Pisa, Siena, and Florence. Moving on to Umbria, students visited the tomb of St. Francis and the soon-to-be-canonized Carlo Acutis in Assisi. The last day of the tour featured Mass in Rome at the Papal Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura and a guided tour of the ancient Colosseum and Forum. This educational experience exposed students to the joys and challenges of travel, important religious and historical sites, and diverse food and culture. #Prep #Travel

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, April 30: • Baseball picked up a huge 5-4 victory over Meadville. Andrew Costello went 3-3 with two doubles, an intentional walk, two stolen bases, and a pair of runs scored in the Ramblers' win. Owen Fetzner had two hits and two RBIs, while JP Poranski earned the win with no earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. ⚾ • Softball dropped their matchup with Fairview in what was an offensive battle, 17-13 in eight innings. Emily Dudenhoeffer went 4-5 with a homerun and four RBIs. Morgan Madura had three hits and drove in three, while Kendyll Steves went 3-5 with two RBIs. Avery Pfister had two hits. Sophia Montagna had two RBIs. 🥎 • Boys tennis fell to University School (OH), 4-1. Gavin Ferretti was the lone winner in singles. 🎾

Our sophomore MedPath students had an unforgettable experience touring AHN Saint Vincent Hospital! From peeking into real surgeries to operating surgical robotic arms like pros, they explored the NICU, Operating Room, and Emergency Department up close. They also connected with a dynamic team of professionals, including a nurse anesthetist, dietician, pharmacist, social worker, and PT/OT team that included proud Villa and Prep alumni. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, April 29: • Softball, sporting their Villa throwbacks, defeated Girard, 7-1. Morgan Madura struck out 15 in the circle. She also had a three-run triple. Avery Pfister and Addison Baldi also drove in runs. 🥎 • Boys track & field won their meet against General McLane, 81-68. Devin Easter and Will English were triple winners. Hank Partridge won a pair of events. 👟 • Girls track & field lost to General McLane, 83-67. Anne-Catherine Brown was a triple winner. Tamaria Knight, Shelby Abogunde, and Sarah Lathan each won two events. 👟 • Girls lacrosse fell to McDowell, 14-5. 🥍

Four Show Choir students recently traveled to the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Pocono Mountains to perform in the All-State Chorus at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Festival. These four students earned their place at the state level after making it through two sets of competitive auditions at the district and region levels. They performed a challenging folder of music among the top 240 singers from 136 school districts across Pennsylvania. They also had the opportunity to work with their guest music director, the acclaimed Rollo Dilworth from Temple University. Congratulations to Theresa Ferraro ’27, Bella Speros ’26, Chris Reitz ’25, Rob Socash ’25, and their Music Director Mr. Alesso! Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, April 28: • Baseball swept Harbor Creek. Varsity avenged a previous loss to the Huskies, 7-3. Andrew Costello hit a homerun, tripled, and drove in a run. He also scored three times. Davin Friedman had a two-run double, while Jacob Koshan also drove in a run. Frank Thomas went six innings on the mound, giving up one run and striking out five. JV earned a 5-0 victory. ⚾ • Softball defeated Conneaut, 12-0. Morgan Madura gave up just one hit and struck out 10 in the circle. She also had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Audrey Wojnarowski drove in four on two hits. Eva Donikowski had two hits and two RBIs, while Addison Baldi had a pair of hits. 🥎 • Boys tennis earned a 3-2 road victory at Nichols in Buffalo. Gavin Ferretti won in singles. The tandems of Ty Hulick/Michael Ferraro and Joseph Prichard/Justin Yochim claimed their doubles matches. 🎾 • Boys lacrosse split their doubleheader with Fairview. Varsity picked up a 12-8 win over the Tigers. Rory Callaghan scored four goals. Rylan Sorge scored a goal and four assists. Nate Klan scored two goals and had two assists. Charlie McBrier had a goal and two assists, while Andrew Timon also scored and had an assist. Ty Harrison, Matt Bansidhar, and Michael Corritore also scored. Ian Brown had 13 saves in net. JV lost their matchup, 4-3. Zeke Rees, Joel Nunez, and Bansidhar scored. Jacob Miles made three saves. 🥍

Davin Friedman had 3 RBIs, while brother Derick spun six innings on the bump, yielding just two hits and striking out eight. ⚾ • Girls varsity lacrosse bested Sacred Heart (NY), 9-8. Niagara Millen scored four goals. Giselle Hiner scored three times, while Jordyn DiRaimo and Azlyn Miller also scored. Allison Deiner made 12 saves. 🥍 • Track & field competed in two invitationals on the weekend. On Friday, they competed in Joe Sanford's 38th Annual McDowell Invitational. Zita Schiedel finished third in the 1600 and seventh in the 800 on the girls side. For the boys, Will English took fourth in the 400. Noah Lata finished seventh. Hank Partridge took fourth in the 300 hurdles. On Saturday, the Ramblers competed in the City of Hermitage Invitational. Tamaria Knight took fifth in the 100. Makayla Stutts finished fourth in the 800. On the boys side, Hunter Sullivan, Devin Easter, and Taijoun Williams finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, in the 100. Easter took fifth in the 200. Michael McDonald took fifth in the 400. English won the 800, while Lata took sixth. James Burkett took eighth in the 1600. The 4x100 relay of D. Easter, Gavin Easter, Hunter Sullivan, and Williams took first. McDonald took fifth in the high jump, while Ashton Mountain finished fifth in the long jump. 👟

Gavin Ferretti, Charbel Moubarak, and Cameron Grieshaber won in straight sets in singles. The tandems of Michael Ferraro/Ty Hulick and Justin Yochim/Charlie McBrier took doubles. 🎾 • Baseball swept Erie High. Varsity defeated the Royals, 12-2. Davin Friedman and Joe Flanagan each drove in three runs. Andrew Costello had three hits, while Mathius Sprickman, Jacob Koshan, and Flanagan each had a pair of hits. JV earned a shutout, 10-0. Nikolas Malec struck out eight in three innings of work. Matthew Boam and Owen Fetzner each had two hits and drove in two. Frank Thomas also had an RBI. AJ Sirianni and Broegan McCarthy each scored twice. ⚾

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS), Fiber Arts Club, Book Club, and Baking Club co-hosted a “Fat Tuesday” bake sale, with all proceeds benefitting the Mercy Center For Women. Before break, Book and Fiber Arts Club President Maja Wasielewski ’25 and NAHS Co-Presidents Nhu Tran ’25 and Adrienne Catrabone ’25 presented Executive Director Jennie Hagerty with a check for $646 to support their programming.
