
• Boys basketball competed on all three levels this weekend. Varsity made it a season sweep of McDowell with a 77-72 victory over the Trojans. Nando Mirarchi had 26 points to lead the Ramblers. Ashton Wilbur had 19 points. Michael Thompson scored 14 points, while Ahmari Horton finished with 10 points. JV split their matchups. The Ramblers lost to McDowell, 61-53. Demario Smith scored 16 points. Karson Biel scored 14 points, while Matt Nedreski finished with 12 points. They bounced back with a 73-59 win over Canisius (NY). Biel had 22 points. Smith scored 18 points. Nedreski scored 13 points. Freshman won both their games. They defeated Erie High, 43-36. Ajay Barrios scored 12 points. Lochlan Snider-Mills scored nine points, while Ashton Stinely finished with eight points. They would also beat Canisius (NY), 71-42. Snider-Mills led the way with 22 points. Stinely scored 12 points. Cartier Shaw scored 10 points. 🏀
• Wrestling competed in the D-10 AA wrestling duals at Sharon. They won their opening match over Grove City, 48-30. Davion Edmond (127), Sawyer King (133), Kamdyn Borrero (145), Gabe Dorman (160), Sam Harrington (172), Bode Terry (189), Omar Arrington (215), and Max Spaulding (285) all won by fall. They would fall in the semifinals to General McLane in a tight one, 32-31. Spaulding won by fall. Mario Panighetti (145) won by major decision. Mason Gregor (114), Terry, and Arrington won by decision. 🤼
• Varsity hockey finished 2-2 at the North Coast HS Hockey League Showcase in Canton, OH. They won their opener against Indian Hill (OH), 5-1. Garret Schwartz had a hat trick. Chris Bruschi scored a pair of goals. Hyatt Hetz and Logan Morris each had two assists. Vinny Scalise, Rory Callaghan, Henry Fritts, Dylan Graham, and Bruschi also had assists. Matei Moga made 26 saves in goal for the win. They would win their second game against Hilliard (OH), 3-1. Fritts scored two goals. Hoke had the other tally. Schwartz and Graham each had two assists. Moga made 29 saves. They would fall to Dayton (OH), 2-1. Hetz had the lone goal. Morris had the assist. Moga made 28 saves. They closed with a 2-0 loss to Miami (OH). Moga made 23 saves in goal. 🏒

• Girls swimming & diving won their meet against Warren, 123-48. Aubrey Bender and Jaslene Cage each won four events. Brianne Ryan and Kendal Johnston were triple winners. Ashley Bender and Kara Sanders each won a pair of events. 🏊♀️
• Boys swimming & diving also defeated Warren, 141-33. Thomas Fortin, Jackman Callaway, and Ben Camera were triple winners. Jack Raimy, Leighton Leeds, and JD Cullen each won two events. Ted Terrizzi won the diving competition. 🏊♂️
• Girls basketball swept Warren. Varsity took their Region matchup over the Dragons, 55-35. Natalie Spano had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Leah Nies scored 11 points. Mia Washburn had 10 points, while Grace Orlando finished with nine. JV remained undefeated with a 58-17 victory. Allie Adams and Awut Mangok each had 15 points. Nora Marsh added 11. 🏀

• Varsity hockey defeated Norwin, 3-2, in overtime. Hyatt Hetz and Garrett Schwartz had goals, while Rory Callaghan scored the game-winner. Callaghan, Hetz, Schwartz, and Logan Morris had assists. Matei Moga made 38 saves in net. 🏒

After collecting suggestions of names for the new Cathedral Prep mascot, a clear winner has risen to the top of the list! Please join us for the big reveal of our new mascot’s official name during a rivalry night at the Hagerty Family Events Center TONIGHT! At 6:00 p.m., the Cathedral Prep Swimming & Diving teams take on McDowell in the Hallman Aquatics Center. Just across the hall, the Lady Ramblers Basketball team will also face the Trojans in the Joann Mullen Gymnasium with a 7:15 p.m. start for the varsity squad. It’s a two-for-one deal as one entry fee gets you into both competitions!
At halftime of the basketball game, the new ram mascot’s name will be officially announced, and the ram will make his first appearance in the gym. He’ll have some prizes for the audience, and he’ll stick around to snap photos with the fans too.
We hope to see you there to meet the ram, but more importantly to support the Ramblers in the pool and on the court!!! #RollRamblers 🐏

• Wrestling won the Frank Ferguson Brooke Classic at Brooke High School (WV). Davion Edmond (126), Kamdyn Borrero (144), Bode Terry (190), Omar Arrington (215), and Max Spaulding (285) all finished first in their respective classes. Mason Gregor (113), Gabe Dorman (165), and Sam Harrington (175) finished second. Mario Panighetti (138) finished third. Luke Benedict (150) finished fifth, while Jourian Crockett (120) and Colin Lucas (157) each finished seventh. 🤼
• Boys basketball swept General McLane. Varsity cruised past the Lancers, 83-59. Michael Thompson led all scorers with 29 points. Nando Mirarchi had 18 points, while Ahmari Horton tossed in 11. JV won their matchup, 66-34. Demario Smith had 19 points. Eli Elwell finished with 11 points, while Karson Biel had 10 points. 🏀

As the day progressed, we continued to monitor circumstances and have decided to delay the start of school by two hours at Cathedral Prep and Mother Teresa Academy. ❄️

• Girls swimming & diving picked up a win over Meadville, 127-31. Jaslene Cage and Kendal Johnston each won four events. Aubrey Bender was a triple winner, while Grace McCormick and Haylie Montgomery each won two events. 🏊♀️
• Boys swimming & diving also defeated the Bulldogs, 128-33. Ben Camera won three events. Thomas Fortin, Jack Raimy, and Jackman Callaway each won a pair of events. Ed Terrizzi won the diving competition. 🏊♂️
• Wrestling rolled to another victory, this time over Saegertown, 51-15. Sawyer King (133), Gabe Dorman (160), Sam Harrington (172), Bode Terry (189), Omar Arrington (215), and Max Spaulding (285) all earned pins. Mason Gregor (114), Mario Panighetti (139), and Kamdyn Borrero (145) won by technical fall.🤼 🤼
• Indoor track competed in their second NEOITC Series Green Division meet. For the girls, Makayla Stutts finished second in the 800m. Reagan Johnston and Sophie Becker followed in third and fourth place, respectively. Anne-Catherine Brown won the 1600m. Zita Schiedel finished second. Brown also won the 3200m. The 4x800 relay finished first. Tamaria Knight took fourth in the long jump. Gavin Easter took fifth in the 60m for the boys. He also took sixth in the 200m. Will English took fifth in the 200m. The 4x800 relay finished fifth. Ashton Mountain took fourth in the long jump, while Easter took sixth. 👟

Students participated in a five-person Q&A panel, gaining invaluable insight and real-world advice on how to earn internships and break into careers at the highest levels of sports medicine and performance. They even stepped onto the snow-covered field. To top it all off, Guardians star José Ramírez made a surprise guest appearance!
