Last Thursday, several members of the Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System administration and board of directors, along with a few faculty and staff members from Cathedral Prep and Mother Teresa Academy spent the day with the Sisters of St. Joseph, the founders of Villa Maria Academy. We talked about all of the exciting things happening at both schools, and we shared with them the many ways that the charism and legacy of the SSJs remains strong and present, both physically in and around the school buildings as well as spiritually within the Prep and MTA communities.
After a thorough update and an opportunity for the Sisters to ask questions, President Kevin Smith and Chairman of the Board Dr. Chris Clark ’87 were proud to present the SSJs with a VMCPCSS Board-approved resolution recognizing their faithful commitment to the Church, community, and the mission of Catholic education for 165 years. The day concluded with some joyful holiday performances by the Cathedral Prep show choir, dance ensemble, and instrumental ensemble! #Prep #Community

Students from Prep and Mother Teresa Academy attended the inaugural Youth Summit, a project funded, in part, under a grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.
These students were selected for their strong leadership aptitude and commitment to making a difference. To kick the day off, Nora Marsh ’29 showed incredible courage by stepping onto the stage to sing “Rise Up” by Andra Day in front of the entire audience. Next, they heard from keynote speaker Brandon Wiley. He shared his personal journey with mental health and ended with a beautiful motivational message. They attended breakout sessions that included talks on peer mentoring, gaming & gambling, and anti-bullying. The students ended the day with a community project.
This meaningful experience empowers students to grow as leaders, learn from experts, and engage with their community around important issues facing today’s youth. #Prep #MTA #MakeADifference
