
While the rain came down later in the day, it ended up being a great day for Sports Day last Friday! From flag football, to pickleball, to bocce, to Super Smash Bros., to pin dodgeball, events took place all over the Hagerty Family Events Center and Dollinger Field. Ultimately, the Class of 2026 went back-to-back and took home the crown once again, while the Class of 2027 earned runner-up honors! A very special thank you to our Sports Day advisors Ms. Beuchert, Mrs. Martin, and Mr. Schreffler for bringing our campus together for this fun-filled day! Yesterday, several members of our school community received one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation) at a special Mass held by Fr. Mike DeMartinis at St. Patrick Church. Congratulations to Hayley Dever ’24, Michael Pokabla ’25, Maddox Ragen ’26, Mya Kaliszewski ’27, and Ben Camera ’27. • Congratulations to the Boys Tennis team! They finished second in the state at this weekend’s PIAA AA championship. They began the weekend with a quarterfinal win over Masterman, 3-2. Jonah Ng and Gavin Ferretti won in singles. Ty Hulick/Drew Brown won in doubles. They would then pick up a 3-0 victory over Quaker Valley in the semifinals. Ng, Ferretti, and Colin Troutman swept singles. It was a battle in the state championships, but the Ramblers fell short, 3-2, to Lancaster Country Day. Ferretti won his singles match, while Hulick/Brown won in doubles. They became just the second boys tennis team in District 10 history to reach a PIAA final. Congratulations to Coach Grab and the team on an incredible season! 🎾🥈
• Track & field competed at the D-10 AAA Track & Field Championships at Slippery Rock over the weekend. The girls finished second overall, with several taking gold. Lauren Raimy won the 1,600m, setting a meet record with her time of 5:03.41. Sarah Teed took second. Anne-Catherine Brown took the 3,200, while Allison Bender finished third and Rue Burkett took sixth. The 4x400m relay of Kayla Bogdanski, Reagan Johnston, Raimy, and Fina Bannister took first. The 4x800m relay of R. Johnston, Bender, Brown, and Bannister also stood atop the podium. Kendal Johnston won the high jump, setting a school record in the process with her jump of 5’3’’. Colette Speros took fourth. Tamaria Knight took sixth in the 100m, while De’Ziriana Page took eighth. Bogdanski earned silver in the 200m, while Page took fifth. The 4x100m relay of Bogdanski, Kate Peterson, Page, and Knight took fourth. K. Johnston took third in the 400m. Regina Torrance took fifth. Torrance took eighth in the 300m hurdles. Raimy took second in the 800m, while Bannister followed in third. R. Johnston took fifth. Grace Barrett and Sarah Lathan tied for fifth and set a school record in the pole vault with their 9’0” jumps. The boys finished seventh overall for the meet. David Adams-Prince took eighth in the 100m. The 4x800m relay of Noah Lata, Declan Toohey, Nick Kupniewski, and Will English took fifth. Taijoun Williams took fifth in the 200m. Adams-Prince took eighth. James Burkett took sixth in the 1600m. The 4x100m relay of Gavin Easter, Devin Easter, Williams, and Brycen Brooks took fourth. Roman Hamm took sixth in the 400m. Hank Partridge took fourth in the 300m hurdles. Kupniewski took eighth in the 800m. The 4x400m relay of Hamm, Toohey, Kupniewski, and Drew Johnson took fifth. Michael McDonald took fourth in the high jump, while Ashton Mountain took fifth in the triple jump. Congratulations to all!! 👟
• Boys lacrosse defeated McDowell, 7-5, to close out the regular season. Charlie McBrier, Andrew Timon, and Nate Klan each had two goals. Alex Little also scored. Tanner Ball had 12 saves. 🥍







Show Choir began their spring mini tour performing for residents at St. Joseph's in their chapel and continued for the Sisters of St. Joseph at their motherhouse. Their next performance is NEXT TUESDAY, May 21, in the H. David Bowes Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. They will be performing alongside the Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble. Their mini tour ends with the choir's annual trek to western Ohio on May 25 to compete against more than a dozen choirs from across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. • Baseball split their doubleheader against McDowell at UPMC Park. Varsity completed a season sweep of the Trojans with their 8-1 victory. Jason Fultz had two hits, two RBI, and pitched five innings of shutout ball, striking out eight. Davin Friedman also had a pair of hits and drove in two. JVs dropped their game, 9-3. Sam Ciukaj had a pair of RBI. AJ Sirianni also drove in a run. ⚾
• Girls lacrosse fell to McDowell, 11-2. Genevieve Izbicki and Gigi Hiner scored for the Ramblers. 🥍

• Baseball swept Erie High. Varsity scored six runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to defeat the Royals, 16-1. Jason Fultz hit two more homeruns and drove in three. Justice Laird went 3-3 with two RBI. Mathius Sprickman drove in three and got the win on the mound. Matt Oblich had two RBI, while Andrew Costello had two hits. JVs picked up a 10-0 victory. Owen Fetzner drove in two and pitched two innings of hitless baseball. Frank Thomas struck out four in his two innings, while Sam Ciukaj had two RBI. ⚾
• Four runs in the seventh inning helped softball rally to an 11-10 win at Sharpsville. Mackenzie Moore had a pair of hits, including a three-run double in the final frame. Addison Baldi, Madison Simmerman, and Sophia Primavere all had two hits apiece. 🥎


National Honor Society (NHS) held their final Community Blood Bank Blood Drive of the year yesterday! Thirty-seven units were collected. Those units will be able to help up to 111 individuals! #Prep #NHSBloodDrive 🩸

• Boys tennis is headed to Hershey! They advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over North Catholic. Jonah Ng and Gavin Ferretti claimed wins in singles. James Casella/Cameron Grieshaber and Drew Brown/Ty Hulick won in doubles. 🎾
• Softball swept Conneaut. Varsity captured a share of the Region 5 title with their 5-2 win over the Eagles. Madison Simmerman struck out 11. Paige Simmerman, Mackenzie Moore, Emalie Thomas, and Mya Kaliszewski all had two hits. Cam Chimera drove in a pair. JVs won 17-2 in three innings. Sophia Primavere got the win striking out eight. She also had a pair of hits and three RBI. Morgan Madura had three hits. Kaliszewski had two hits, scored twice, and drove in three. Moore had a pair of hits and three RBI. Audrey Wojnarowski drove in two. 🥎
• Boys volleyball lost to Fort LeBoeuf, 3-0, to close out their season. 🏐


Callie Cacchione ’24 successfully completed the forensic science course last semester. This semester, she completed an independent study in this course. She was instrumental in assisting with lab setup and class preparation. She also had to complete a research paper on forensic toxicology, specifically the use of mass spectrometry, and a capstone project on the Erie “Pizza Bomber” case. Callie will be attending Tiffin University and pursuing a degree in forensic science. We are so proud of all her hard work and can’t wait to watch her continued success! #Prep #Forensics 🔬

• Baseball split their doubleheader with Fort LeBoeuf. Varsity scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to beat the Bison, 13-2. Andrew Costello, Jason Fultz, Jacob Koshan and Justice Laird all had two hits. Fultz drove in four. Koshan had a pair of RBI, while Costello scored three runs. JVs lost their matchup, 5-3. Matt Oblich drove in a run. ⚾
• Boys lacrosse lost a tight one to Meadville, 12-11. Nate Klan had four goals and an assist. Rylan Sorge had a hat trick and four assists. Charlie McBrier had a pair of goals and two assists. Alex Little and Andrew Timon also scored. Tanner Ball made 20 saves in goal. 🥍

• Girls track & field competed at the prestigious Loucks Game in White Plains, NY. In the 800m, Lauren Raimy took 19th place with a PR of 2:16.52. Fina Bannister set a PR of 2:18.30. Reagan Johnston with a PR of 2:21.39 while Sarah Teed ran in 2:27.28. In the 3200m, Anne-Catherine Brown placed eighth overall with a PR time of 10:48.16, while Allison Bender ran in 11:18.15. The 4x800m relay took eighth. 👟
• Baseball fell to St. Francis (NY), 7-5, in a varsity-only contest. Jason Fultz had two hits, two RBI, and a homerun. Andrew Costello had a pair of hits and drove in three. ⚾

Cathedral Prep alumnus Evan Fritzke ’16 visited Mrs. Quinn’s AP Statistics class to discuss how he uses statistics as a viticulturist for National Grape Co-op (Welch’s). Evan has a major in biology, minors in english and chemistry, and a masters in horticulture. He explained to the students that while he does not have a statistics degree, he uses it in his job, and it also helped get him his job at Welch’s. Statistics is used to do crop forecasting and is also instrumental in the grape inspection process. #Prep #Statistics



AFJROTC cadets presented the colors at the Cleveland Guardians game on Wednesday. This was a great opportunity for our cadets, and it was a beautiful day for baseball! #Prep #AFJROTC ⚾
