• Boys freshmen basketball fell to Oil City, 31-24. Owen Haffey led the way with 13. 🏀


Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, December 7:
• Boys basketball swept their doubleheader against Franklin at the Joann Mullen Gymnasium. Varsity rolled in their first game of the season, besting the Knights 65-29. The Ramblers started the game with a 22-0 lead after the first quarter. Jake Sambuchino, Amaree Pickens and Derek Galla all had 10 points apiece. JV kicked off the night with a 68-45win. Michael Thompson had 17 to lead the way. Michael McDonald and Ben Scheffner each scored 12 points. 🏀
• Girls bowling started their season with a 21-7 victory over Erie High. Elena Kacprowicz had the high game of 232 and high series of 586. Kacprowicz and Ava Hensler each earned four-point sweeps. Emalie Thomas, Emaan Hassan and Tamara Bell each won three points. 🎳

Performing arts students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with members of the Broadway touring cast of Legally Blonde! The field trip was sponsored by the Prep chapters of the ITS, Tri-M and Show Choir. Cast members that led the workshop included Hannah Bonnett (Elle Woods), Ashley Morton (Paulette), Sergio Manriques (Asst. Stage Manager/ACM), and Erie native Reagan Kennedy (Swing/Co-Dance Captain/u/S Elle Woods/2nd ASM/Ensemble). They spoke about what life is like in the professional world of performing arts, what it took to break into the business, the changing processes of professional auditions in the age of the pandemic and advised the students to take every opportunity that comes their way, along with many other topics. Reagan Kennedy also taught the choreography of one of the numbers in the show at the end of the workshop. #Prep #PerformingArts 🎭


Last week, Ms. Schalk’s Ceramics I class had a visit from Mr. Jesse Kroh from the Technology department! He taught the class how to make slab-built Christmas trees for the holiday season. #Prep #Ceramics 🎄


Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, December 5:
• Girls basketball took on Mt. Lebanon in a doubleheader. Varsity picked up another big win to start their season, besting last year’s AAAAAA runner-up 46-42. Lena Walz led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds. Jayden McBride finished with 10 points and seven boards. Addie Biel added nine points in the victory. JVs picked up another win over the Blue Devils to stay undefeated, 23-21. Natalie Spano finished with 11 points to lead the Ramblers. 🏀
• Varsity hockey fell to Pine-Richland, 7-5. Connor Eubank, Liam Nickerson, Alex Brown, Ethan Cunningham and Liam Waid all scored for the Ramblers. Tanner Ball notched 32 saves in goal. 🏒


AFJROTC cadets kicked off their military marching drill season this past weekend at Pine-Richland High School against schools from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. #Prep #AFJROTC 🎖


Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup:
• It was opening weekend for the girls basketball teams. Varsity went 2-0 in the Border Battle at the Joann Mullen Gymnasium. On Friday, the Ramblers bested Cardinal O’Hara (NY), 70-36. Addie Biel led the way 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jayden McBride had 19 points and five assists, while Lena Walz had nine points and eight rebounds. On Saturday, they would pick up a big overtime victory over Bishop Kearney (NY), 54-47. McBride led the way with 20 points and six rebounds. Walz finished with 12 points, while Biel and Tori Mayes finished with nine and eight points, respectively. The JVs started their season with a sweep of their doubleheader on Friday. In game one, the Ramblers picked up a 51-18 win over Cardinal O’Hara (NY). Katherine McCormick had 16 to lead the way. Natalie Spano finished with 12, while Leah Major added nine. They then picked up an overtime win over Mt. Lebanon, 48-42. McCormick led the way again with 15. Major and Grace Orlando each had 11. 🏀
• Boys freshmen basketball kicked off their season again Erie High. The Ramblers fell to the Royals, 42-30. Owen Haffey finished with 12 points. 🏀

Today, Theology classes are spending time in the chapel praying the divine mercy chaplet and reflecting on the season of Advent. Each student is also receiving an Advent calendar with 25 scripture passages and 25 pieces of candy for the month of December from Student Council and Campus Ministry to help them dive deeper into the Advent season! #Prep #Advent 🕯


Members of the Diversity Club participated in a roundtable discussion at WQLN. Joined by Vice President of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Chet Moffett, Rabbi Robert Morais and Gannon University’s Dr. Parris Baker, students Amelia Lego ’24 and Devin Easter ’25 discussed the topics of antisemitism, hate and social media. #Prep #Diversity 🎙


Yesterday, students at Mother Teresa Academy watched AFJROTC’s Immortals Marching Team perform routines that they have practiced all year. They have been working in preparation for their first drill competition this weekend at Pine-Richland. Student Council's "No Shave November" contest concluded yesterday! Students were able to purchase beard passes at the end of October, with the proceeds benefiting Shriners Children’s Hospital in Erie. Dominic Bellotti ’24 took home the “Best Overall Beard” award, while Hayden Hutchinson ’23 won “Best Mustache.” Aidan Levis ’23 and Tyler Irons ’24 won “Most Unique”, while Nicholas Sacco ’23 won “Longest Individual Hair.” A total of $1000 was raised from the contest! #Prep #NoShaveNovember 🧔

• Varsity hockey picked up a big 7-5 victory over Bethel Park. Brayden Sprickman had a hat trick, while Logan Taylor added a pair of goals. Mathius Sprickman and Tucker Kinnear also found the net. Tanner Ball finished with 26 saves in goal. 🏒


Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup:
• Football was back on the field after nearly a month off. The Ramblers held a 14-0 lead at Pine-Richland, but they could not hold it. They fell in the state quarterfinals to the Rams, 21-14. Dajoure Hollingsworth had 15 carries for 140 yards and both Rambler touchdowns on the ground. The team closed out an excellent season at 8-3. 🏈

Last week, several members of the Cathedral Prep Diversity Club were invited to PennWest Edinboro where they met with college students of color to get their perspective on life in college and the different challenges they face. They were also treated to a campus tour and had lunch. #Prep #Diversity


Congratulations to Andrew Costello ‘26. He has verbally committed to play Division I baseball on scholarship at Wake Forest University. Though Costello has yet to play an inning at Prep, he gained national notoriety in helping his USA Baseball 15U team win a gold medal in Mexico in September. For his efforts, he was selected to the tourney's All-World Team. Wake Forest has recruited Andrew as a catcher. #Prep #RollRamblers #StudentAthlete ⚾
