Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Roundup: • Girls swimming and diving won the North East Invitational. The Ramblers went 1-2 in the medley relay. The team of Maria Costa, Jaslene Cage, Ellie Natemeier and Josie Dufala took first, while the team of Chloe Borrero, Ellie Brugger, Lindsay Armanini and Grace McCormick followed. Coster won the IM. Brugger took second, while Brianne Ryan finished fourth. Cage took second in the 50 free, while Dufala took third and Kendal Johnston took fourth. Natemeier took second in the 100 fly and 500 free. Johnston took second in the 100 free. The 200 free relay of Costa, Johnston, Dufala and Cage took first. Costa won the 100 backstroke, while Borrero took second. Cage won the 100 breaststroke. Brugger finished second. The 400 free relay of Johnston, Brugger, Borrero and Natemeier took first. Maria Costa was the MVP swimmer of the meet! 🏊‍♀️ • Varsity hockey took part in the Meadville Tournament. The Ramblers began the weekend with a 2-0 win over McDowell. Ryan Sorge and Ethan Cunningham scored, while Tanner Ball earned the shutout in net. They would go on to beat Peters Township, 2-0, in their second game. Joey Walter scored both goals, while Ball earned another shutout. In their third game, Prep defeated Findlay (OH), 4-1, to advance to the semifinals. Walter, Logan Taylor, Tucker Kinnear and Caleb Dacus scored. Ball earned another win in net. In the semifinals, the Ramblers defeated the host Bulldogs, 4-1. Braydan McGarry, Vinny Scalise, Chris Bruschi and Mathius Sprickman all scored. Ball made 28 saves to get the win in goal. They would fall in the championship to Peters Township, 1-0. 🏒 • Boys basketball was in action over the weekend. Varsity rallied to beat General McLane, 60-50, after trailing by as many as 12. Spencer Kanne had 15 to lead the way, while Amaree Pickens finished with 13. JVs dropped a pair of games, falling to the Lancers, 52-49, and Mercyhurst Prep, 63-53. 🏀 • Wrestling fell to Reynolds, 47-15. Gabe Dorman (145) scored a pin for the Ramblers, while Brandon Byrd (152), Max Spaulding (215) and Will English (114) all had decisions. 🤼‍♂️

Addie Biel led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Jayden McBride finished with 16 points. Ava Lucarotti added 13, while Lena Walz finished with 12. JVs bounced back with a 41-18 victory. Mady Brzezinski and Jasmine Woodard each had nine points to lead the Ramblers. 🏀 • Boys freshmen basketball picked up a 54-48 victory over Mercyhurst Prep. Frank Thomas led the way with 17 points. Trevor Bruno (145) won by technical fall. 🤼‍♂️ • Bowling won in a come-from-behind victory over Erie High, 18-10. In their opener, the Ramblers fell to Neumann Goretti, 76-64. Nando Mirarchi had 18 points and 9 rebounds. Michael Thompson had 16 points and 10 boards. Joey Spano and Spencer Kanne each scored 11. In the consolation game, the Ramblers lost their matchup against Niagara Fall (NY), 76-60. Thompson went for 17 and nine boards to lead the way. Fina Bannister took second in the 800, while Reagan Johnston took third. Lauren Raimy took first in the 1600, qualifying for states, while Anne-Catherine Brown took second. The 4x800 relay of Johnston, Allison Bender, Caitlin Dugan and Bannister finished first. The 4x400 relay of Kayla Bogdanski, Johnston, Raimy and Bannister took second. Cathedral Prep Holiday Break Athletics Roundup: • Girls basketball took part in the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando, FL. The Ramblers would go 2-1 on their trip. In their first game, they earned a huge 50-45 win over Wasilla (AK), a seven-time state champion from Alaska. Wasilla was unbeaten coming in and ranked preseason top 50 in the US. The Ramblers were led by Jayden McBride's 28 points. Jayden also eclipsed the 1,000-career point mark during the game, joining her sisters Kayla and Karlee in that club. Addie Biel added 14 points. They would then pick up a 60-47 win over defending Massachusetts state champion Foxborough (MA), snapping the Warriors 24-game win streak. McBride and Biel each finished with 20 points. In the national bracket championship, the Ramblers would fall, 59-30, to the number one ranked team from Texas, Glen Rose High School (TX). Biel scored 10 for Prep. 🏀 • Boys basketball was in action over the break. Varsity picked up a victory in their lone contest, besting Austintown Fitch (OH), 69-58. Down by seven in the third quarter, the Ramblers went on a 23-4 run to get the win. Spencer Kanne had 18 points. Nando Mirarchi tossed in 15, while Michael Thompson had 12. JVs dropped a pair of games, losing to Mercyhurst Prep, 43-40, and Austintown Fitch, 52-49. 🏀 • Varsity hockey finished 1-1 over the break. They fell to St. Ed’s (OH), 3-0. They would pick up a victory over Canon-McMillan, 3-2. Joey Walter, Vincent Scalise and Gian Catrabone scored for the Ramblers. Tanner Ball made 30 saves to get the win in net. 🏒 • Prep Wrestling took 36th at the Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan. In the first round, Will English (114), Gabe Dorman (145), Jaden Crockett (172) and Omar Arrington (285) picked up pins. Bo Martucci (160) and Max Spaulding (215) scored decisions. They all would drop their second-round matches. Keagan Oler (127) won his consolation first round match by tech fall. In the consolidation second round, Dorman, Martucci and Arrington scored falls. English, Trevor Bruno (139) and Corey Kowalski (189) had decisions. In the consolation third round, Spaulding had a pin, while Dorman and Martucci scored decisions. 🤼‍♂️ • NEWS: Congratulations to Dajoure Hollingsworth (RB), Jiavani Cooley (OL), Aden Wentz (DL) and RJ Roberts (ATH). They were all named to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Class 5A All-State football team. 🏈

Students painted different wintery designs on the windows so patients can see them upon entry on the different floors. Basil Bannister ’24 had an exciting day shadowing Dr. Ajaipal Kang, a plastic surgeon at UPMC Hamot, yesterday. She even got the chance to observe surgeries in the operating room! This is just one example of the opportunities our pathway students are exposed to.
