National Art Honor Society participated in an afternoon of pumpkin carving and painting last Thursday. Students brought in their pumpkins and worked for hours creating artistic designs and carvings. They also had fun listening to Halloween music and enjoying some tasty treats. Yesterday ended up being a perfect day for the annual PowderPuff football game on Friday! It was a battle between the juniors and seniors. In what started out as a back-and-forth game, the seniors would pull away in the second half to avenge their loss last year as juniors! Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, October 24: • Girls volleyball swept Conneaut, 3-0, in their quarterfinal match. Kamryn Resurreccion had 32 assists. Coco Speros had nine kills and five digs. Carolina Krahe finished with five kills and seven digs. Olivia Hutchinson had 15 kills, while Mackenzie Moore had nine digs. Kharhys Nickson had five kills. Ellen Hutchinson had five digs. 🏐 • PLAYOFFS TODAY: Girls tennis has an early start in the quarterfinals of the PIAA team tournament in Hershey. Defending champion Scranton Prep is the opponent at 9:30 a.m. Good luck, girls! 🎾

The Cathedral Prep Dance program recently hosted Dr. Christina Brown, a physical therapist from NovaCare in Erie, PA, for an informative and engaging workshop on dance and injury prevention. Dr. Brown, who specializes in physical therapy for dancers and athletes, shared valuable insights on how to stay healthy and avoid common dance injuries. She discussed the importance of proper warm-up techniques, alignment, and body mechanics, while also addressing the role of physical therapy in recovery. In addition to her presentation, Dr. Brown led students through a series of exercises designed to strengthen key muscle groups and improve flexibility, helping to reduce the risk of injury. This hands-on experience gave CP Dance students practical tools to integrate into their daily training, promoting long-term physical health. We are grateful for Dr. Brown’s expertise and commitment to helping our dancers stay strong and injury-free! #Prep #Dance

Congratulations to Allison Bender ’25. She has committed to run both cross country and track & field next season for Colgate University. Allison earned an individual state medal and helped the Ramblers to the cross country state title in 2022, and a state runner-up last season. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, October 23: • Congratulations to Boys Golf! They finished as the runner-up at the PIAA AA state championship at Penn State’s Blue Course. The Ramblers finished nine strokes behind first place Scranton Prep. Connor Laird shot -1 to lead the way. Cooper Wierzchowski was +2, while Sonny Washburn +7. Joseph Prichard finished +9. Andrew Costello was +11 to round out the scoring. Congratulations to Coach Keim and the team on a tremendous season! 🥈⛳ • Girls soccer rolled to an 8-0 victory over Wilmington in the D-10 quarterfinals. Paige Patsy, Finleigh Handzel, and Sophia Glance won in singles. The tandems of Margaret Prichard/Lilli Beuchert and Eliza Kallner/Katie Kuhar took doubles. 🎾 • Boys soccer won their D-10 quarterfinal matchup against Hickory, 6-0. Cam Dunbar and Will Agresti both had two goals. Michael McDonald and Max Johnson also scored. AJ Sirianni and Breese Stoeger shared the shutout in goal. ⚽ • Varsity hockey defeated Canon-McMillan, 5-2. Tucker Kinnear had a hat trick, which included an empty netter. Brady Sack and Nick Pugne also scored. Ashton Duchini had two assists. Chris Bruschi, Pugne, Ethan Cunningham, and Logan Morris also had assists. Ian Brown made 14 saves in net. 🏒 • Connor Laird finished 24th in the PIAA individual golf competition with a two-round score of 152 (+8). Teammate Cooper Wierzchowski placed 35th at +12. Ms. Kabasinski’s Physics classes participated in their “Pumpkin Drop” activity last Friday for their unit on projectiles. Students were tasked with dropping their pumpkin from the balcony and hitting the target. From there, they had to calculate the horizontal velocity and final vertical velocity of their pumpkins. Mr. Puskar’s Mass Media class, Ms. Duda’s Digital Photography class, and Mrs. Tompkins’ Physics class also got in on the fun! #Prep #Physics 🎃

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Football swept General McLane. Varsity snapped a three-game losing streak with a 39-32 win over the Lancers. Trailing 13-0 to open the game, the Ramblers Prep repeatedly came back, rattling off 17 consecutive points. Charbel Latouf had 21 carries for 112 yards and a score. DaZarie Carson toted the ball nine times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Davin Friedman was 15-26 through the air for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while Corey Allen snared six balls for 102 yards and a touchdown. JV picked up a 17-14 victory. Davion Edmond scored two touchdowns, while Sam Leone kicked a field goal to round out the Ramblers’ scoring. 🏈 • Girls cross country captured the NWPA Invitational they hosted, scoring 38 points to best McDowell by two points. Fina Bannister placed third overall. Allison Bender was fifth, while Makayla Stutts was seventh. Reagan Johnston and Zita Schiedel took 11th and 12th, respectively. Sophie Becker was 22nd. Kendal Johnston took 37th. A total of 16 teams from three different states took part in the event. 👟 • Boys cross country also hosted the NWPA Invitational. The Ramblers finished 10th, led by a fourth-place finish by James Burkett. Noah Lata took 15th. Jeremai Pruzenski took 65th, while Michael Brown finished 78th. Nick Kupniewski finished 87th. Joseph Dieteman and Nate Gannoe rounded out the Ramblers’ top seven with 95th and 99th finishes, respectively. 👟 • Boys water polo went 2-1 over the weekend at the Screamin’ Eagle. They began with a 17-9 victory over Central York. Callum Snider-Mills scored five goals to lead the way. Ely Cooney and Heath Kreidinger each had a hat trick. Owen Carson and Colin Troutman each scored a pair. Thomas Fortin and Michael Ferrare also scored. Dan Kubiak made three saves in goal. They would fall to host Cumberland Valley, 12-9. Show Choir had their first performance of the year this past week. They were invited to perform at the Catholic Charities Helping Hands Gala held in Gannon University’s Yehl Ballroom!
