Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, January 23: • Girls basketball swept General McLane. Varsity bested the Lancers, 74-22. Addie Biel had 16 points to lead the way. Jayden McBride finished with 13. Lena Walz added 11, while Tori Mayes had 10. JVs picked up a 57-21 victory. Natalie Spano and Leah Major each had 14 points. Katherine McCormick added 12. 🏀 • Girls swimming and diving took down Meadville, 110-56. Haley Palmer was a quad winner. Jillian Heinrich and Ellie Natemeier each won three events. Maria Costa and Kyan Snider-Mills each took a pair of events. Ange Terrizzi won the diving portion. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming rolled to a 126-40 win over Meadville. Aidan Levis won four events. Jack Raimy, Colin Troutman and Mitchell Bradford all won three events. 🏊‍♂️ • Varsity hockey fell to Seneca Valley, 5-1. Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Girls basketball won their varsity-only matchup against Cardinal O’Hara (NY), 69-46. The Hawks came in as the second ranked team in New York. Jayden McBride paced all scorers with 21. Lena Walz had 12. Ava Lucarotti finished with 10. Addie Biel and Tori Mayes each had nine, while McKenna Valone had eight. 🏀 • Boys basketball swept Harbor Creek. Varsity picked up a big Region win over the Huskies, 62-42. Jake Sambuchino had 18 points to go with nine rebounds. Amaree Pickens and Semontae Lofton each had 13. JV won, 50-17, in the opener. Michael Thompson had 17 points, while Cormac Thunell tossed in 11. 🏀 • Girls swimming fell at Hathaway Brown (OH), 114-65. The medley relay team of Maria Costa, Kyan Snider-Mills, Ellie Natemeier and Haley Palmer took first. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming fell to University School (OH), 123-60. Jack Raimy, Aidan Levis and Mitchell Bradford all took two events. 🏊‍♂️ • TOMORROW: Tickets remain on sale at Prep and McDowell for tomorrow night's rivalry matchup. Thanks to the US Army Pennsylvania National Guard, AFJROTC cadets enjoyed MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) in class today on Friday. They learned nutritional values and the variety of methods our service members utilize these in the field to suppress hunger. #Prep #AFJROTC

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, January 19: • Girls basketball swept Harbor Creek. Varsity defeated the Huskies, 63-14. The Ramblers led 25-2 at the end of one. Four players were in double figures, led by Lena Walz’s 17. Jayden McBride had 16, while Addie Biel and Tori Mayes each had 11. JVs picked up a 46-25 win. Natalie Spano had 14 to lead the way. Katherine McCormick finished with 12, while Leah Major added eight. 🏀 • Girls swimming defeated Erie High, 95-37. Double winners included Chloe Borerro, Maria Costa, Ellie Natemeier, Josie Dufala, Kyan Snider-Mills, Lindsay Armanini and Sara Chase. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming scored 105 points to win versus Erie HIgh. Colin Troutman and Owen Carson took three events each. Double winners included Matthew Hinman, Mitchell Bradford and Jack Raimy. 🏊‍♂️ • Indoor track took part in their second NEOITC Conference meet. The Ramblers swept top three of the girls 1600m. Lauren Raimy finished in first place, Anne-Catherine Brown was second and Allison Bender finished in third. Raimy also took first place in the 800m, while Brown finished second. In the girls 4x800 relay, the Ramblers finished in third place behind Sarah Teed, Caitlin Dugan, Regina Torrance and Fina Bannister. Bannister came in third place in the 400m. The 4x200 relay team of David Adams-Prince, Taijoun Williams, Dejoure Hollingsworth and Damario Crawford took third. In the boys 1600m, Luke Brown finished in first place. He took second in the 800m and was first in the 3200m. 👟 • Freshmen boys basketball fell to Erie High, 36-33. 🏀

Congratulations to Ben Brzezinski ‘23. He has committed to play college football on scholarship next season at Fairmont State University. Brzezinski was a two-way starter for the Ramblers, earning All-State recognition as a nose guard. He will play defensive line at the collegiate level. #Prep #RollRamblers #StudentAthlete 🏈

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, January 18: • Bowling moved into a tie for first place with a 16.5-11.5 victory over McDowell at Rolling Meadow Lanes. Elena Kacprowicz had the high game of 192. Emalie Thomas and Maja Wasielewski each earned a four-point sweep for the Ramblers. Tamara Bell had three points, while Emaan Hassan had two and a half points in the victory. Their team total pins for the match were 2470, which is the new league high for the year. The girls take on Erie High next Wednesday. 🎳

Congratulations to Vincent Padalino ‘23. He will play collegiate soccer next season at Penn State Behrend. Padalino was a defensive stalwart for the Ramblers in the midfield and on the backline for three seasons. Congratulations to DaMario Crawford ‘23. He has committed to play Division I football next season on scholarship at Saint Francis University (PA). Crawford had 17 catches and five touchdowns this past season for the Ramblers. Defensively, he made 50 tackles and had a pair of interceptions. He was also named to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers 5A All-State team the past two seasons. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, January 17: • Boys basketball swept Meadville. Varsity picked up a 63-47 Region victory over the Bulldogs. Zion Barksdale had 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Ramblers. Tavion Spencer had 15, while Jake Sambuchino finished with 12. Semontae Lofton added 10 points. JVs picked up a 54-26 win. Max Wallace had 14 points to lead the way. Cormac Thunell had 12, while Michael Thompson added 10 in the victory. 🏀 • Varsity hockey snared a 4-3 win over North Allegheny. Brayden Sprickman, Ethan Cunningham, Caleb Dacus and Liam Waid scored for the Ramblers. Tanner Ball made 29 saves in net. 🏒

Students attended the 45th Annual Pro-Life Breakfast held at the Bayfront Convention Center last weekend. They heard from various speakers, including keynote speaker Patricia Sandoval. #Prep

Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Girls swimming took the North East Invitational by 67 points over General McLane. Haley Palmer was named meet MVP. It was a strong showing for the Ramblers. Maria Costa, Kyan Snider-Mills, Ellie Natemeier and Palmer won the medley relay. Natemeier won the 200 free. Costa won the IM. Palmer won the 50 free, while Jillian Heinrich finished third. Palmer took the 100 free, while Heinrich finished third. Natemeier took home the 500. The 200 free relay of Costa, Natemeier, Heinrich and Palmer finished first. Costa won the 100 backstroke. 🏊‍♀️ • Indoor track competed in the Spire Scholastic Classic. The distance medley relay of Anne-Catherine Brown, Fina Bannister, Lauren Raimy and Sarah Clark finished first. Allison Bender, Caitlin Dugan, Sarah Teed and Helen Ann McCormick took second. Brown, Bender and Teed went third, fifth and 11th in girls 1600m. Kayla Bogdanski was 13th in the 200 and 11th in the 400. In the 800, Fina Bannister finished third. Lauren Raimy took fourth, while Caitlin Dugan finished 22nd. Clark set a school record with her victory in the 3200. Helen Ann McCormick took fifth. Luke Brown set a school record with his win in the 1600. He also took the 800, while Nick Kupniewski took 20th. 👟 • Boys basketball finished 4-0 on the weekend, including a sweep of General McLane on Friday. Varsity won their first Region matchup the Lancers, 62-50. Jake Sambuchino had 17 points. Amaree Pickens had 13, while Tavion Spencer added 10. On Saturday, they defeated McQuaid Jesuit, 68-50, in a varsity-only matchup. Pickens had 18 of his 20 points in the first half. Sambuchino scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, while Spencer tossed in 10. JVs picked up a 55-47 over McLane. Michael Thompson had 23 points. Michael McDonald added 13. Freshmen basketball defeated North Catholic, 49-46, in overtime thanks to a Matt Boam buzzer beater. KyZir Rowan finished with 20, while Boam contributed 17. 🏀 • Wrestling went 2-4 over the weekend. They began on Friday with a tough matchup against Reynolds at Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House. The Ramblers fell to the Raiders, 41-24. Sam Staab (133), Bo Martucci (152) and Mac Spaulding (285) had pins, while Andrew Gammon (127) and Owen Shetler (189) scored decisions. They would then go 2-3 at the Connelsville Duals on Saturday. They fell to the hosts in their first match, 49-16. Bradon Byrd (139) scored a pin, while Amir Johnson (114) and Keagan Oler (121) won by tech fall. They then picked up a 45-30 win over Frazier. Oler, Staab, Byrd, Spaulding and Johnson had pins, while Aiden Carter (107) scored a decision. Match three saw them win big over James Madison (VA), 69-3. Gammon, Staab, Byrd, Xavier Domkowski (145), Martucci, Jaden Crockett (160), Isaiah Harrick (215), Spaulding and Carter all had pins. Oler won by tech fall, while Clay Mallory (172) won by major decision. The Ramblers would then fall to Brecksville-Broadview Heights (OH), 61-3. Domkowski won by decision. They would fall to Canon-McMillan in their final match of the day, 45-25. Domkowski and Martucci had pins. Oler and Crocket won by tech fall, while Spaulding scored a decision. 🤼‍♂️

Pins came from Max Spaulding (285), Mohammed Al-Hchaimi (127), Andrew Gammon (133), Xavier Domkowski (145), Jaden Crockett (160), and Owen Shetler (172). Isaiah Harrick (215) also picked up a win by decision. 🤼‍♂️ • Bowling took down Mercyhurst, 18-10, in Metro play yesterday. Elena Kacprowicz had the high game of 212 and high series with a 513. Kacprowicz, Emalie Thomas and Ava Hensler each earned four-point sweeps for the Ramblers. Addie Biel and Tori Mayes each had 12, while Ava Lucarotti had 10. JVs remained undefeated with 43-25 win. Natalie Spano had 18.
