• Boys lacrosse took on South Fayette in the first round of the PIAA playoffs. The Ramblers fell to the Lions, 9-4, to close their season with a record of 13-7, which included Region and District 10 titles. Owen Callaghan scored three goals, while Will McBrier added the other goal. 🥍
Over the past few months, members of the Class of 2024 and Class of 2025 received the sacrament of Confirmation at their respective parishes! We celebrate our juniors and sophomores who renewed the promises that were made at their Baptism and took another step to the fullness of initiation in the Catholic Church!

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, June 5:
• In thrilling fashion, baseball knocked off defending state champion Montour, 6-5, in the first round of the PIAA playoffs at Mercyhurst University. After falling behind 5-3, Cole Constable hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Ramblers the lead. Constable drove in four on the day and had a pair of hits. Nick Jackson also had a pair of hits. Andrew Malec got the win on the mound, throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and striking out four. ⚾
• A great season for softball came to an end as they fell to Elizabeth Forward in the first round of the PIAA playoffs, 7-2. Madison Simmerman and Emily Dudenhoeffer each drove in a run. 🥎

Congratulations to Kasey Kensill ’23. He took first place in a local trapshooting event at Erie County Sportsmen's Club with a 97/100. He then went on to take first place in the Zippo Open in Bradford, PA, shooting 196/200 and placing first for juniors for the second year in a row. He will be competing at states in June and nationals in July. #Prep
Show Choir ventured to Western Ohio to compete in this year’s Music in the Parks music festival last weekend! They competed against choirs from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. The competition was hosted by the Sandusky School District, where the choir performed for adjudicators who are music professors at Heidelberg University and Case Western Reserve University. The choir earned high marks, receiving the highest rating, Superior, and placed second in their division, Mixed Choir I, AA Division. After the festival, they enjoyed the rest of the day together at Cedar Point. Congratulations to all the members of the choir and Music Director Mr. Andrew Alesso! • For the third consecutive season, boys lacrosse wins the D-10 title! The Ramblers defeated Meadville, 13-4, to claim the AA crown. Owen Callaghan and Nate Klan each had three goals to lead the way. Will McBrier and Rylan Sorge each scored a pair. Santino Montefiori and Brady Little rounded out the scoring. Congratulations to Coach Smykowski and the team on their victory! 🥍🏆
• Girls lacrosse fell in the D-10 championship to Conneaut, 10-9, after a hard-fought battle. Addie Stark and Sophia Glance each had four goals. Niagara Millen also scored. 🥍
Leaders of Campus Ministry were together today to brainstorm plans for the next school year! The day included personal prayer time, Mass, and a lot of dialogue about hopes for next year. They finished the day by commissioning senior members of Campus Ministry. #Prep #CampusMinistry ✝

• For the ninth year in a row, baseball claims the D-10 title! They defeated Meadville in the AAAA title game, 9-2. Luke Costello had two hits, an RBI, and struck out nine to get the win on the mound. Andrew Costello had the big home run and 3 RBI, while John Koshan and Nick Jackson each drove in two. • Boys tennis singles and doubles competed at Hershey in the PIAA championships this weekend. Gavin Ferretti won his opening round match in singles, besting Saucon Valley’s Daven Pandey, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. He would fall to Lancaster Country Day’s Nile Abadir in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-1. The doubles team of Hayden Hutchinson and Jonah Ng took their first-round match in straight sets over the tandem from Moravian Academy, 6-1, 6-2. They would also fall in the quarterfinals, losing 6-2, 7-5 to the duo from Lancaster Country Day. 🎾
• Girls and boys track & field took part in the PIAA championship at Shippensburg University. Luke Brown medaled with a seventh-place finish in the 800m. He set a new PR of 1:54.79. The 4x800 relay of Anne-Catherine Brown, Sarah Clark, Allison Bender and Lauren Raimy just missed a medal by a tenth of a second with a season-best time of 9:22. Clark also took 11th in the 3200 with a school record of 10:42.14. 👟

• Softball is headed to the D-10 AAAA championship game after defeating Conneaut, 2-1. Jenna Wagner went all seven innings in the circle, throwing a one-hitter and striking out nine. She also had a hit and drove in a run. Maddie Simmerman drove in the other, while Emily Dudenhoeffer and Megan Kelly also had hits for the Ramblers. They take on Franklin at the Hermitage Complex on Monday (Memorial Day). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. 🥎
