“P” Day was a SUCCESS!! Kindergarten had such a great time at the park yesterday! They enjoyed playing in their play clothes, having a picnic and having a blast on the playground. They went on a hike to a HUGE maple tree and we found a HUGE teepee! They went back to school to learn about Percy Peacock, how to draw a peacock and ate some pretzels! #MTA 🦚🥨🏞

Over the past couple of months, first grade has spent time creating their published book, “All About MTA.” This idea and content came from the students! They learned how to interview, continue a conversation, and form questions. After interviewing each other, students interviewed MTA teachers. Once the interviews were complete, they had to use their best writing to complete the final copy. They sent it out, and finally got the hardcover book back! Everyone was very excited to see their hard work! #MTA 📚

As an exciting way to review for MAP assessments, middle school students participated in a Math Glow Day yesterday. During math class, students rotated between four stations, including tic-tac-toe, Connect Four, Jenga, and mystery cup. As students answered review questions correctly, they were able to take a turn of their game. They loved all the neon and glow throughout the room and were so engaged in the math questions! #MTA #MathGlowDay 🌟

It's UNANIMOUS! Kindergarten’s “U” day wins! They first made unicorn hats! Then, just when they thought they we were about to take a boring math test, a UNICORN CAME TO CLASS! They couldn’t believe it was Ms. Nolan! They absolutely loved the unicorn! They also read the book “Unicorn Day” and wrote how they were UNIQUE (their new vocabulary word) like a unicorn. They enjoyed unicorn cupcakes and had a directed draw of a unicorn. Thank you everyone who helped make their day special! MTA #Kindergarten #Uday 🦄

Kindergarten had a WONDERFUL Western Day yesterday! First, they went to art where a surprise a cowgirl was waiting for them: Ms. Nordlund! She's a real-life cowgirl! She taught them all about her horses and how to draw a horse. Then, in math, they all had silly “W” team names for their review game! For reading, they listened to “The Cowboy Gingerbread Man!” It was like The Gingerbread Man, but also different…so they compared and contrasted the two. Then, they colored their own Cowboy Gingerbread Man! They enjoyed several “W” treats. Ms. Nordlund then came back to their class to teach them about the saddle and how to put it on and off the horse. They also learned how to get on and off the horse! #MTA #BackwardsBootcamp 🐴

One of the topics first grade wanted to learn about was worms! So, last week they researched them. They learned about the different body parts, that they have hair, can make cocoons, and their importance to the Earth. On Friday, they got to touch worms and watch how they move. Although many friends were hesitant to touch worms at first, they were sad to let them go! #MTA 🪱

Kindergarten kicked off their “Backwards Bootcamp” last Thursday with a trip to the zoo for “Z” day! They had their own education class learning all about animal adaptations! They saw a lion's skull, orangutan skull and hand skeleton, porcupine quill, owl feather and even pet a bearded dragon! They enjoyed a lovely lunch at the picnic tables and loved seeing all the animals. They then came back to school and learned about zebras and ate Zebra Cakes! #MTA #BackwardsBootcamp 🦍🦏🦁🦉🦎

Fourth grade learned about figurative language last week in reading class! They had the chance to use the outdoor classroom to write sentences about nature that use alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, and many more types of figurative language! The sunny day and warm breeze were a perfect spark for their creativity. #MTA #FigurativeLanguage 📝

After learning about hermit crab diet, habitat, needs, and proper care, first grade finally got their hermit crabs! The kids helped creating a good environment for the hermit crabs to quickly get accustomed to. We haven’t decided on names yet but, we have come up with lots of ideas like Mr. Shy Guy, Pointy, Hoppy and Greeny! #FirstGrade #HermitCrabs
