In 1990, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus designated November as Black Catholic History Month. In conjunction with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie, we celebrated Black Catholic History Month with an infographic contest. Our Dance department was honored to welcome Ashley Lauria, a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC), as a guest speaker. Ashley shared invaluable insights on proper nutrition for dancers, covering how to fuel the body before, during, and after rehearsals and performances. She discussed the importance of balanced meals, hydration, and effective snacking while debunking common food myths. We sincerely thank Ashley for taking the time to speak with our dancers, sharing her expertise, and providing helpful resources to support their health and well-being. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, December 17: • Boys varsity basketball is competing in the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas this week. The Ramblers picked up a big win, 72-64, win over Christian Brothers (CA) their first round game. Nando Mirarchi had 21 points in his first game of the season. Michael Thompson had 19, while Ahmari Horton finished with 13. 🏀 • Bowling fell to McDowell, 27-1. 🎳 • LATE TUESDAY SCORES: Wrestling rolled to a 57-5 win over Seneca. Gabe Dorman (152), Colin O'Rourke (127), and Sam Harrington (189) all won by fall. Bode Terry (172) picked up a decision, while Andrew Gammon (145), Tucker Palotas (160), Alex Hagerty (215), Omar Arrington (285), Johnayha Brunson (107), and Amir Johnson (133) won by forfeit.🤼‍♂️Varsity hockey picked up a 3-0 shutout over Baldwin. 🏒Boys freshmen basketball defeated Slippery Rock, 61-31. Matthew Nedreski led the Ramblers with 22 points. Jackson Lauria chipped in eight. 🏀

Our MVP Department hosted their Winter Showcase on Tuesday night in the H. David Bowes Auditorium. Dance Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, and Show Choir put on some amazing performances and spread some holiday cheer before we go on break! Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, December 16: • Girls basketball swept Harbor Creek. Varsity picked up a 56-22 victory over the Huskies. Addie Biel led the way with 26 points and 20 rebounds. She also eclipsed 1,000 career points in the victory! Natalie Spano scored 15, while Seana Thrower added 11. JV won their matchup, 44-25. Brooklyn DiRaimo and Bella Scheloske each scored 12 points to lead the way. 🏀 • Girls swimming & diving opened their Region schedule with a 111-21 win over Erie High. Jaslene Cage and Maria Costa each won four events. Chloe Borrero captured three races, while Ellie Natemeier, Kendal Johnston, and Brianne Ryan all won twice. Ange Terrizzi took the diving competition. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming & diving also kicked off their Region slate with a win over Erie High, 123-13. Matt Hinman was a triple winner. Double winners included Jack Raimy, Callum Snider-Mills, Jackman Callaway, Colin Troutman, Owen Carson, and Adam Clark. Ted Terrizzi won diving. 🏊‍♂️

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Boys basketball competed in the Tom Keenan Memorial Tournament at Canisius High School (NY). The Ramblers won their opener against Lyons (NY), 62-51. Michael Thompson had 19 points, while Spencer Kanne finished with 18. They would fall to the hosts in the championship game, 74-54. Sebastian Wofford had 19 points. 🏀 • Wrestling hosted the Rambler Duals in the Joann Mullen Gymnasium. The Ramblers went 6-0 and won the team title. They began with a 70-6 victory over St. Joe’s (NY). Andrew Gammon (145), Tucker Palotas (152), Jaden Crockett (160), Bode Terry (172), Omar Arrington (215), Max Spaulding (285), Aiden Carter (114), Davion Edmond (121), and Amir Johnson (133) all had pins. Corey Kowalski (189) and Keagan Oler (139) won by technical fall, while Kamdyn Borrero (127) won by forfeit. They would then pick up a 61-11 win over Madison (OH). Dorman, Palotas (160), Brandon Byrd (189), Spaulding, and Colin O’Rourke (121) had pins. JourdIn Crockett (145) and Johnson won by forfeit. Borrero, Oler, and Kowalski won by technical fall. They would defeat Perry (OH), 46-21. Byrd, Ja. Crockett, Bo Martucci (189), Kowalski, Edmond, and Dorman won by fall. Oler and Borrero won by technical fall. They would roll to a 60-6 victory over McDowell. Martucci, Borrero, and Jo. Crockett won by forfeit. Arrington won by decision, while Ja. Crockett pied up a major decision. Addie Biel led the Ramblers with 32 points and 14 rebounds. Ava Lucarotti had 14 points, while Natalie Spano added 11. JV won their matchup, 60-23. Bella Scheloske led with 17 points. Awut Mangok scored eight. Brooklyn DiRaimo and Kendyll Steves scored seven points each. 🏀

Sam Harrington (189), Corey Kowalski (215), Colin O’Rourke (121), Kamdyn Borrero (127), Amir Johnson (133), Andrew Gammon (145), Jaden Crockett (160), and Bode Terry (172) had pins. Jourdin Crockett (114), Keagan Oler (139), and Omar Arrington (285) won by technical fall, while Gabe Dorman (152) won by major decision. 🤼‍♂️ • Bowling opened their season with a 23-5 victory over Erie High. Ava Hensler bowled a career-high game of 232 and a career-high 577 series. 🎳 • Boys freshmen basketball bounced back and picked up a 42-26 victory over Harbor Creek. Show Choir begins their winter concert tour of the area this week, performing several concerts in the community. One of these concerts is being the featured choir for Tennessee Backporch in their annual “Follow the Star” concert tour. They will be performing this Sunday, December 15, at 4:00 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. They will also be performing at HANDS - St. Joseph Apartments, SSJ Motherhouse, and in our MVP Winter Showcase next Tuesday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the H. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, December 10: • Boys basketball split their doubleheader with Fairview. Varsity rolled to a 62-38 victory over the Tigers. Max Wallace had a career night with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Ahmari Horton, Cormac Tunnell, and Michael Thompson had eight points each. JV fell in their matchup, 53-49. Max Santillan led the way with 19 points, while Demario Smith added 17. 🏀

Rylan Sorge and Tucker Kinnear scored the goals in regulation, while Henry Fritts had the game-winner in the shootout. Ethan Cunningham and Mathius Sprickman each had a pair of assists. Ian Brown finished with 39 saves in net. 🏒 • Boys freshmen basketball fell to McDowell, 60-18. Eli Elwell led the Ramblers with seven points. 🏀

We would like to thank head girls volleyball coach Sarah Strub. She guided the Ramblers to an appearance in the state semifinals this past season, going 17-6 with a young roster. Aiden Carter (114), Davion Edmond (121), Kamdyn Borrero (127), Keagan Oler (139), and Alex Hagerty (215) won by forfeit. Amir Johnson (133), Andrew Gammon (145), Sam Harrington (189), and Max Spaulding (285) had pins. Gabe Dorman (152) won by decision. They would beat North Allegheny, 35-33. Student Council's "No Shave November" contest concluded today! Students were able to purchase beard passes at the end of October, with the proceeds benefitting Shriners Children's Erie. Charbel Latouf ’25 took home the “Best Overall Beard” award, while Dominic Panighetti ’26 won “Best Mustache.” Will Sanner ’25 won “Longest Individual Hair.” A total of $300 was raised from the contest! #Prep #NoShaveNovember 🧔

Evan Theisen ’25, James Burkett ’25, and Roger Havyarimana attended Erie Insurance’s “Be an Actuary” Day before break. They learned about the profession and what it is like to work for a Fortune 500 company. They heard from several presenters, including alum Audrey Kruszewski ’18VMA and Jarod Wallen ’17. In addition to hearing about the actuarial profession, students competed in small groups on a problem-solving activity and got the highest score! The day ended with a tour of the Erie Insurance campus. #Prep
