On May 23, 2018 Villa Maria Academy celebrated Mary's Day. This year's most cherished honor was bestowed upon Grace Brown, who was the May Queen. She wore a white gown with a white floral headpiece and carried a bouquet of matching flowers. Her court attendants were Molly Bohrer, Erin Cox, Makayla Davis, Hannah Maciak, and Mary Catherine McGovern. They also wore white gowns with vibrant floral headpieces and matching bouquets.
Prior to the ceremony, the main hallway was dark. Villa seniors lined the corridor with candles. Students were then dismissed and walked through the lit tunnel of seniors to the auditorium.
The entire student body gathered with guests, family, and friends in the auditorium. After readings, and a reflection from the May Queen it was time to crown Mary. Grace Brown placed the wreath on our Heavenly Queen. Senior Alexandra Karlinchak sang "Gentle Woman" and senior Laura Fehr sang "Ave Maria," each accompanied by Mr. Andrew Alesso. Senior Brooke Kimet also performed a Mary's Day Dance
Earlier in the day the students spent time in homeroom enjoying the traditional cinnamon rolls and juice while reading their Mary's Day letters.
Mary's Day is a long time tradition at VMA that students look forward to each and every year.
