An Update on the Prep and Villa Events Center's Continued Improvements
Posted 07/27/2017 09:54AM

Construction work continues on the Walnut Street field/parking area with a projected completion date of December 2017. As mentioned in the previous construction announcement, the turnaround circle on the foot of Walnut Street is expected to remain open for student drop-off / pick-up through most (if not all) of the construction project; however, parking on Walnut Street will not be available.

Parking WILL be available in the Poplar Street lot and visitors are encouraged to use this as the primary parking area until the Walnut Street project is complete. Entrance to this lot is located on 12th & Poplar Streets (turn south), and entrance to the facility is located at the east end of the lot (crossing the Cherry Street bridge). The fence line has been restructured on that side as well so that students, parents, coaches, visitors, etc. have direct access from the parking lot to the main building without having to worry about locked gates preventing access. As always, additional parking for games/events is available in the Prep student parking lot located on the NW corner of the 11th & Chestnut Street intersection also.

Finally and effectively immediately, the reserved/handicap parking lot on the corner of 12th & Cherry Streets is now a HANDICAP ONLY parking lot. To maintain compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking requirements, the lot has been regraded and restriped to offer additional handicap parking spaces. The lot will no longer be accessible for administration/staff/coach/etc. parking or student pick-up/drop-off and will be monitored by both a towing company and facility staff members. Any vehicle that accesses that lot without a disability parking plate or placard will be towed without notice at the vehicle owner's expense. This parking policy will be enforced 24 hours /day, 7 days /week to ensure that we are in compliance with ADA regulation and that our disabled visitors always have proper access to the facility.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation while we continue to expand upon our beautiful facility offerings at the Events Center!
