Kevin Smith to Step Down After Four Years of Leadership

Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System (VMCPCSS) announced today a leadership transition. After four years of dedicated leadership, President Kevin Smith and the VMCPCSS Board of Directors have made a mutual decision for Kevin to transition from his role at the end of the 2025-2026 academic school year.

During his tenure, Smith helped guide the school through a pivotal period, strengthening its foundation and positioning it for continued growth and academic excellence. The Board of Directors expressed deep gratitude for his leadership and contributions to the school community.

“We are thankful for Kevin’s commitment to our students, families, and faculty during an important time in our school’s history,” said Dr. Chris Clark, Chair of the VMCPCSS Board of Directors. “We wish him continued success in his next chapter.”

Ladouceur Appointed to Ensure Continuity and Stability

To support a smooth transition, the Board has appointed Jason Ladouceur as interim president. He will provide steady leadership and continuity for the school community until a permanent president is named.

Ladouceur, a Buffalo native, attended Gannon University, where he earned a bachelor's degree and master's in education. An Erie resident since 2007, he joined the organization in 2014 as a faculty member and coach. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of educational and administrative roles, including administrative designee and principal of St. George School, principal and vice president of Mother Teresa Academy, and most recently, Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs for VMCPCSS.

Search for Permanent President to Begin

The Board of Directors will initiate a comprehensive and thoughtful search for a permanent president. The process will focus on identifying a leader who will build upon the school’s strong academic and faith-based foundation while guiding VMCPCSS into its next phase of growth.

Commitment to Students, Families and Tradition Remains Strong

While this leadership transition marks a new chapter, the school’s core mission remains unchanged. VMCPCSS remains deeply committed to serving its students and the families who entrust the school with their education and formation.

VMCPCSS will continue to uphold our strong traditions while preparing students for success in the future, grounded in faith, academic excellence and community.
