Admissions Process

Enrollment Period

Mother Teresa Academy accepts applications any time throughout the school year.  If you and your family are new to the area, are considering a change in educational environment, or interested in Kindergarten registration, please contact, Erica Jackson by phone (814) 455 – 0580 ext. 5006 or email erica.jackson@mtasaints.com.

Classroom Enrollment Size

At Mother Teresa Academy, we have one class per grade level.  We desire to have classroom sizes that best facilitate student learning. In general, our policy is that classroom enrollment remains limited to 20 students per classroom in grades K-4 and 25 students per classroom in grades 5-8.  We will be transparent with parents regarding any significant changes to enrollment size in classrooms.

Admission Selection Process

All students wishing to attend Mother Teresa Academy must reside in the City of Erie.  The selection process for Admission to Mother Teresa Academy is as follows:

1.       Completed application including tax return attached for determination of tuition
2.       Copy of student most recent report card, including attendance and behavioral records
3.       Letter of recommendation from at least one teacher or administrator

Once all of the above are submitted to Mother Teresa Academy and reviews are completed, interviews will be granted to students if spaces are available for each grade level.  If there are currently no available spaces, parents can choose to have their child(ren) placed on the waiting list for the particular grade (see Wait List below).

Students wishing to enter Kindergarten will have a slightly different selection process.  Selection for incoming Kindergarten students will depend on the following criteria:

1.       Completed application including tax return attached for determination of tuition
2.       Letter of recommendation from the current day care or preschool attended
3.       Interview with principal and kindergarten teacher (child must attend the interview)
4.       Kindergarten Shadow – half day from 8:00 am – 11:00 am
5.       Siblings of current Mother Teresa Academy students

Wait List

When spaces are not available for a specific grade, parents may choose to have their child be placed on a wait list.  If an opening becomes available, students on the wait will be given priority for those openings in the same order of preference as detailed in the Admissions Selection Procedures above.  The wait list will exist from year to year only, and the wait list for each school year shall be established after the selection process for the upcoming school year has ended and shall terminate when that school year ends.

If the Principal determines through the above procedures that the family and student have philosophies, educational goals and levels of preparation that are compatible with the religious mission and educational programs offered by Mother Teresa Academy, and that the student is likely to be successful in the Catholic educational setting, and an opening exists; the student may be admitted either on a probationary basis or without restriction.

Once accepted, each child will need the following submitted to complete your registration:
