The defending state champion Prep golf team began their campaign with a first place finish in their Region opener. Breckin Taylor shot a 78. Alex Vahey had an 81, Ryan Eastbourn 82, Trey Thompson 85 while Jacob Eastbourn carded an 86 as the deciding score.

Prep went on the road and placed eighth in this event. Alex Vahey shot 79, Trey Thompson 81, Ryan Eastbourn 84, Jake Eastbourn 91 and Matt Costa had a 92.
Prep won their second Region golf match of the season, besting McDowell by five strokes at Green Meadows. Breckin Taylor was medalist with a 76. Alex Vahey shot 77, Tre Thompson 82, Ryan Eastbourn 86 & Jacob Eastbourn carded an 87.
The third Region golf match of the season went the way of the Ramblers, who won by 36-strokes over Erie on Warren's Blueberry course. Breckin Taylor was medalist with a one-under 71. Trey Thompson shot 75, Alex Vahey 82, Jacob Eastbourn 83 and Ryan Eastbourn had an 84.
The Ramblers placed 13th in this event.
Prep grabbed a 19-stroke victory in Region play at Elk Valley. Breckin Taylor was medalist with a 72. Trey Thompson shot 78, Ryan Eastbourn 80, Jacob Eastbourn 83 while Alex Vahey had an 84.
Prep finished in 5th place in this event. Trey Thompson and Alex Vahey each finished in the top 10.
Prep won their fifth straight Region golf match, by five shots at the Country Club of Meadville. Breckin Taylor led the Ramblers with a 75. Jacob Eastbourn shot an 82, Trey Thompson 84, Alex Vahey 85 and Matt Costa shot 90.
Head Golf Coach
Dr. Jay Willow enters his 10th season as the Head Coach of Men’s Golf, and his 11th season at Prep, having coached the junior varsity team in 2005. His first nine years have brought moderate success as the Ramblers claimed the Region title each year, and the District 10 Championship in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. His top season came in 2020, when he guided the Ramblers to their second-ever PIAA team state championship.
Willow, who recently completed his 19th year as a faculty member in the Sport and Exercise Science at Gannon University, most recently held the position of Head Women’s Golf Coach for the Golden Knights, a position he held for 3 seasons. In his three seasons, the Golden Knights reached unprecedented levels of success which included 9 tournament victories, 19 top three team finishes , 9 all conference selections, and a 212-62 overall record over the time period. Willow’s tenure was highlighted by a trip to the 2011 NCAA National Championship Tournament (East Regional) and a victory at the 2011-12 PSAC Conference Championship, both program firsts. This success was recognized by his fellow conference coaches as Willow was voted Women’s Golf Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
Willow, a 1989 graduate of General McLane High School and a 1994 graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, received a Master of Science Degree in Sport Studies with a
concentration in Sport Behavior and Performance from Miami University in 1996 and later earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Kinesiology from The Pennsylvania State University. Willow lives in Fairview with his wife of almost 18 years, Jeannene, and two daughters, Emma (15) and Avery (12).
