Alumni Return to Prep for Reunion Weekend!
On Friday, July 26, 2019, over 300 Alumni and guests gathered on Dollinger Field at the Hagerty Family Events Center to celebrate Reunion Weekend! Prep Alumni made the most of the beautiful evening enjoying picnic food, beverages, and field games on Dollinger Field. Alumni from the Class of 1949 to the Class of 2014 returned home to Prep and reminisced and recounted memories that make up the Prep brotherhood.
The Class of 1969, celebrating their 50-year reunion, had the largest number of attendees with more than 50 Alumni travelling from as far as North and South Carolina, Arizona, and Tennessee to enjoy the Weekend. Alumni enjoyed looking over the wide variety of memorabilia set up in the Café `64 concourse at the Events Center including old school letterman sweaters, The Rambler School newspaper, yearbooks, photos of the school, and a slide show featuring students and events at the school over the years. Outside, Dollinger Field transformed from an athletic field to a picnic grounds with a food tent, “beer garden” located at the just outside the Rambler end-zone, DJ Ben Jefferys `12, who played music from the 60’s to the 2000’s, and field games located on the field. Alumni enjoyed a lovely picnic provided by our own in-house FoodFirst Café `64 Catering that included hamburgers, hotdogs, BBQ Chicken, potato salad, pasta salad and much more.
The classes held individual activities on Saturday including golf outings and several courses, tennis at Kahkwa, classmate hosted picnics, dinner with live music at the Clarion Hotel, attending Beer-on-the-Bay, an evening at the Calamari’s, and a gathering at the Plymouth to name a few. Many who attended these events commented that it was a great way to reconnect with their Prep brothers from years past, and they were very glad they attended.
On Sunday July 29th, an Open House featuring a Mass at the H. David Bowes Auditorium and breakfast at Prep’s Café rounded out our Reunion events. Fr. Scott Jabo, President and Fr. Jason Feigh, Campus Minister, concelebrated a lovely mass. Music was provided by Alumnus Pat Brown `96 and Jess Nelson who were accompanied by students Justin Gavio `21 on piano and Brian Lee `21 with vocals. Alumni readers Tom Wittman `69 and Russ Felix `69 contributed beautifully to the Mass as well as student Joe Arminini `21 as an altar server, Andrew Kolodychak `22 as an usher, and Adam Cropp `21 as our sound technician. After Mass, alums and their families enjoyed a breakfast in our Cafeteria catered by FoodFirst Catering. Tours of our school were offered throughout the Open House and guided by current Prep students who volunteered their time. Alumni were impressed by the updates going on while still maintaining the integrity and character of the school.
