Our 11th Cathedral Prep Hall of Fame class was inducted on Friday, September 29, in the Mullen Gymnasium. More than 300 people attended the inductions, as well as the reception that followed at the Prep & Villa Events Center. This total brings to 80 total people and eight teams inducted since 1992. The following were honored:
Charlie Baumann '85 - one of the top placekickers in school history he would kick at West Virginia where he is still in the top six in school scoring and field goals made. Would later play in the NFL.
Booker Coleman '94 - a game-altering presence in the middle as a 6'9 center, he changed the game on both ends of the floor and led Prep to a state championship in 1993 and a second place finish in '94. Played D-I basketball at Wisconsin.
John DeLuca '45 (Posthumously) - in the mid-40's he was one of the top basketball players to suit up for the Ramblers.
Tom Fessler '73 (Contributor) - for more than 30 years has served as the team physician for Prep athletes.
Frank Krakowski '01 - could argue that he is the greatest swimmer in school history. A state champion in the 100 butterfly he went on to star in the pool at Notre Dame.
Gregor Orlando '09 -the youngest athlete ever inducted into the hall, he won an individual state golf championship in 2007 and a team state title a year later. Also finished second in the state three times. Played collegiately at Virginia.
Jack Pikiewicz '63 -a solid athlete in football and wrestling was also a top coach on the mat for the Ramblers.
1993 Basketball Team -The eighth team to go in the Prep Hall of Fame will be the 1993 basketball team, who will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their magical, state championship season.
