The energy was electric as we illuminated the venue with the fire of excellence of our students, alumni, donors, and honorees at this year’s Legacy Gala: “Igniting Excellence.”  Each year, Cathedral Prep proudly recognizes alumni who demonstrate unwavering support and dedication to our schools over the years. This year we honored Bridget (Power) Barber ’70VMA and Joseph E. Kloecker ’70 by inducting them both into the prestigious President’s Hall of Fame. 

Guests indulged in the delights of the delicious hors d’oeuvres and libations, while engaging in spirited bidding on our 95 silent auction items. New this year, the silent auction adopted mobile bidding, enabling parents, alumni, and friends to support our school from afar. Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System President Kevin Smith warmly welcomed attendees and introduced our student emcees, Luke Costello ’24 and Tori Spearman ’24, who guided the evening’s events. We wrapped up with DJ Gene Natale '02 from Burning River Entertainment, who shares a meaningful bond with our honoree as the nephew and godson of Bridget Barber. 

During the program, Fr. Mike DeMartinis led the live auction which captured the crowd’s enthusiasm, featuring coveted items such as a Tuscany getaway for four, a five-course dinner at The Cork 1794, a Pittsburgh Penguins package, a Penn State vs. The Ohio State football package, and a luxurious Louis Vuitton handbag, among others. The combined efforts of our live and silent auctions yielded over $50,000 in support of our students. 

Our guests’ commitment to our students continued to burn bright with the call for Tuition Angels. Contributions from our Tuition Angels directly fund student financial aid, ensuring that a Cathedral Prep education remains accessible for all Erie families. With immense gratitude, we recognize over 100 Tuition Angel donors! 

Together, we raised over $300,000 and none of this would have been achievable without the support of our 44 sponsors and over 130 donors. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to each sponsor, donor, guest, and Tuition Angel for their unwavering commitment to our students’ success. Together, we continue to ignite the flames of excellence, lighting the path for future generations to come.
